| I asked this young woman if I could draw her
portrait while she worked in the fax room. She agreed, but kept standing
up to peer over my pad every few seconds to see how it was going. I didn't
like the way it was going myself, primarily because she refused to sit
still and frequently made remarks like "my eyes are too big" and "What
did you do to my mouth?" Finally I realized that she was more often looking
over the edge of the pad than she was seated at the desk. So I covertly
made this drawing on a different page but would switch back to the other
drawing frequently, so she would always have the other one to complain
about. Unlike the first drawing, this one is a good likeness of her. |
